I honestly can't remember how I stumbled upon this company. Probably an article I read on Goop because not only would I love to look like Olivia Wilde (True Botanicals post reference), but I would love to be Gwyneth Paltrow. I trust and reference Goop for a lot of my daily rituals and regimes. One, because their rolodex of doctors, writers and products are phenomenal, and two, because they only pick the best of the best. Sun Potion is now one of those amazing companies I have incorporated into my daily routine. From the amazing health benefits to the actual results I had, Sun Potion has my heart when it comes to adaptogens.
One of the products that I love the most is Ashwagandha.
What the heck is Ashwagandha? According to their website, Ashwagandha is a cornerstone of the Ayurvedic Medicine Cabinet, also known as “Indian ginseng” for its immune-fortifying and invigorating properties. It is considered an adaptogen, as it harmonizes physiological functions in a variety of ways, and supports hormone balance in men and women. The name Ashwagandha comes from the root, which is said to have “the smell of a horse” and is considered to improve stamina and sexual health in men and women (with “horse-like vigor”). Ashwagandha is reputed to help support emotional balance and brain function and acts as a potent antioxidant to boost the immune system. In a recent study conducted by the U.S. National Library of medicine, it was reported that this tonic herb may help with asthma, arthritis, chronic fatigue, anemia, infertility, depression and blood pressure. It is also thought to support the endocrine and nervous system functions as well.
If you didn't read that here is a long list of health benefits to make you feel
like you are not complete unless you have this in your cabinet right now.
Ashwagandha kept popping up more and more, so I had to try it. I did what the jar said to do, which was take the suggested amount with water or juice. Easy to take every morning this way... so I thought. Just shoot the stuff until you are Tuck Everlasting. Well here is some advice from me to you... DO.NOT.TRY.THIS. Ashwagandha is awful! With that being said, I would suggest putting it into a smoothie, matcha potion, golden milk (recipe linked) and/or your morning coffee, which helps a lot. I put it in my morning coffee, and golden milk, with Sun Potions other adaptogens. I noticed some pretty significant changes within a couple of weeks. Ashwagandha really helped me with my anxiety, stress/hormonal levels balanced out and I felt way more energized.
So all in all, it tastes absolutely awful but it's
magic powder and your health depends on it.
